The 'Twenty-O-Three' Initiative
For the past two years the Marrickville Peace Group has co-ordinated the collection of signatures on open letters to President George Bush, expressing opposition to the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
The event is named after the date of the invasion (20:03:2003). Successive organizations maintain a presence in Martin Place (outside the US Consul General's office) to gather signatures in the lead up to the anniversary of the invasion. We collected nearly 1,000 signatures in 2006 and nearly 3,000 in 2007.
In 2008 we intend to take the originals to the US ambassador in Canberra.

The Iron Wall
To launch the 2008 TWENTY-0-THREE initiative, Marrickville Peace Group showed the film "The Iron Wall" on Tuesday 12 February 2008 at the Seaview Community Hall, Seaview Street, Dulwich Hill. A flier is attached.
The night was a great success, and future film screenings are planned.
